Why Can't Some of My Existing Products Be Linked?

Some items have different structures that are so vastly different that we are unable to match them. This article explains why and how to fix them.

Overview

Some products that ought to match will not show up on the link report for a few different reasons. It's usually simple enough to resolve these issues though.

Title/SKU/UPC Mis-spelled

If the Title, SKU, or UPC don't match exactly (meaning they have the exact same spelling and characters in them), we will be unable to match the products. While these fields are not case sensitive, they are alphanumeric sensitive. We currently cannot match items based on a fraction of the information here. You'll need to double check the spelling of the Title, SKU, or UPC of the items you know should match and then re-run the link report.

Product Structures Are Too Different

If a product on Shopify has 10 variants and the matching product on Clover has 8, they may not be able to match. There are many instances where this is the case. It is very important to have same for same product structure on both your Clover and eCommerce device. You can read more about that and how to fix structural differences here.
